Touring South Korea on Independence Movement Day is a great opportunity to learn of Korea’s history and culture, and members will enjoy the paradise and patriotic fanfare that surrounds them. This year, it is the 100th anniversary of the March First Independence Movement, Border Peace School will have a special event at DMZ.

Itinerary:
10:00 AM. March 1 Anniversary Ceremony in front of Labor Party Building
11:00 AM. Peace Maraton to DMZ (10 km) or Peace March to village (walk with dog) (5km)
12:00 PM Lunch Party (village-style pork soup with rice)
13:00 PM Peace human chain: hand in hand (walk with dog)(1km)
15:00 PM Free time & cultural performance
16:00 PM Closing and home (we can go into BPS and have a supper together, possibly with four Japanese peacemakers, as you want)

To be reached by public transportation:
by train: Subway line 1 to Soyosan station, and transit to a train to Bangmagoji station (2.5 hours)

  • This tour is dog-friendly and also great for families with children of any age! SIWA member price applies to all family members. Children under the age of 12 are free.
  • Please note that pre-registration is mandatory for this tour. A copy of your ARC/ ID/ passport will be collected in order to enter the Civilian Control Zone.
  • Non-Members pay an additional fee towards the SIWA Welfare Fund.
